Getting you hands dirty is part and parcel of gardening. All gardeners have their own techiques for cleaning their hands and nails after a day in the garden. I thought I would share with you some environmentally friendly tips on cleaning your hands after a long day in the garden.
Gardener’s Hand Scrub
The get rid of ingrained dirt, mix two heaped teaspoons of sea salt with enough olive oil to make a course paste. Liberally rub the paste into your hands and allow the salt grains to work of the dirt. Rinse hands well under running water with a little lemon juice (or a dab of soap) to remove the grease.
Removing Garden Stains from your Hands
Lemon Juice works well for getting rid of stains on your hands. Squeeze the juice of half a lemon in to half a glass of warm water. Put the solution into a shallow dish and soak your hands in it for 10 minutes. Finally rinse your hands under running water.
Restoring your Nails
Looking after your nails is important. You can clean your hands over and over but once you nails are damaged it takes months for them to grow back. Almond Oil contains Vitamin E which is very good for your nails. Add a couple of drops of Almond Oil to your hands and rub it in - you only need a very little. If you do this once a week then you nails will stay health and strong.
